God of Cricket, Humililty

The last few days have been filled by ink, words, spaces, all hailing the GOD - SRT! His retirement was an eventuality waiting to happen, instead of saying, why did he not go earlier or on a higher note, let us be glad that we have had the chance to see the joy of cricket unfold in our lifetime!

Certainly, would have been a pleasure to see him play (if he got runs) against the arch rivals Pakis, but then no time is a good time, his footwork has slowed after playing for 24 years and the fluidity seems lacking, but i digress like a critic.

This is only an ode to the Cricketer, Ambassador of the Country and a truly humble being, who ensured in his professional and personal life, he lived with grace and character, which is the learning for the youth.

There will be many a cricketer, who will perhaps, punch the cover drive with more panache, the flick with the wrists pointed towards fineleg, the paddle sweep next to the leg stump, better and better, but then will they be the Humble God of being and Cricket is the greater question.

I shall not realm into the statistics, as many will attack his ability to win games, scoring runs on which side of the field, against each country, but can the statistics talk about the goodness, the nurturing of 100's of players who have gained a word of praise to up the level of game, called Life, will always remain the unmarked score!

Ah, lets with pleasure and grace let the God - Rest in Peace!

IPL League - Has lived up to its reputation!

Planned and launched amidst fanfare; the IPL season 1 has captured the imagination of viewers, spectators and i dare say even the cynics (me included) are a converted lot!!

Being a 'purist'; who swears by Test Cricket is mighty impressed with this form of bikini cricket; the tamasha, the about 3 hour entertainer has had some nail biting finishes and coupled with some on / off - skirmishes has added the extra dimension. King of Good Times - public lashing of his subjects; Badshah of Bollywood - being warned by the ICC Anti-corruption wing; SLAPGATE; Racial slurs, etc etc.

Early prediction of Warney's team being the underdogs who could spring a suprise; has certainly met its mark - inspirational & innovative captaincy (getting Yusuf Pathan to open bowling!!); seems reminiscent of Martin Crowe using Dipak Patel in the World Cup series about a decade ago!!

Jeffery Oh Jeffery

I just finished reading the latest from Mr. Archer and can i least say that i was a tad dissapointed. What looked like an interesting back cover plot, turned out to be a 'drawn inspiration' from Count of Monte Cristo!!!

Jeffery's prison term perhaps has given him the inside view of prsion life and maybe he was the librarian there; wherein he re-read the great Monte Cristo and then mixed various other plots to turn out a poor 'B' grade plot.

Perhaps, the only thing missing was the 'vamp' and few melodies; if he can add them, prior to his departure from India, he could line up to meet the stars and produces to sell his 'novel' idea.

After the suspenseful - Shall We Tell The President; delightful - Kane & Abel; brilliant - Not A Penny More; so much was expected, but it was a serious letdown!
